Trooper Sewell was killed in an automobile accident while responding to a call about a motorcycle gang riot in the Skull Shoals area of Greene County. The report turned out to be a false call.
Trooper Sewell was assigned to Post 8 in Madison, Georgia. He was survived by his wife and son.

We, in Bogart Ga. did not know of Keith until a retired State Trooper told us today. He was there at the timewhen they were sending many false calls......We are having a dedication of a monument to Policeman Herbert Johnson of Bogart, end of watch Dec 7th 1977, on Dec. 9th 2012, and will remember the other Officers Down in our area. We do not forget those that gave their lives to keep us safe...
