Fredrick R. Anderson

Patrolman Anderson was struck and killed by a vehicle while investigating an accident.

While on a traffic stop, giving field sobriety tests to a driver, a vehicle approaching the scene struck and killed a pedestrian who was standing nearby. It then veered across the road and struck the rear of the cruiser, pushing it into the first violator vehicle. Patrolman Anderson pushed the first driver from between the cars moments before the impact, but he himself was unable to escape and was crushed between them.

Patrolman Anderson, a U.S. Air Force veteran, had served with the Greenville/West Salem Police Department for 3 years. He was survived by his wife and six children.
