Louis L. Sander

Officer Louis Sander was shot and killed by a motorcyclist after stopping him for a traffic infraction. The suspect shot Officer Sander before he was able to get off his motorcycle. Officer Sander was able to return fire but the suspect escaped.

The suspect was tracked and apprehended, and after being convicted was sentenced to 99 years in prison. The suspect, and his brother, had been involved in an earlier robbery in Arkansas.

Officer Sander had served with the agency for 3 years. He survived by his wife and daughter.

It was my honor and privilege to have worked with and known Louis during my tenure with the Houston Police Department. Louis and I were scheduled to team up for night patrol after completion of my special assignment the the Music Theater in Sharpstown. RIP my friend and colleague.
