Robert Burns Sandefur was my mothers farther. He was survived by his three daughters, Patricia, Jan, and Ray and his wife Dimple. My mother was Jan. Not only was granddad shot in the line of duty but it was by a neighbor only a few doors down from his house. The neighbor was drunk and granddad was speaking to him through the screen door as they knew one another. The man shot him with a shotgun and granddad bled out on the sidewalk. My mother and her sisters had to walk that street every day and they would cross to the other side so they would not have to walk across his blood stain.

Granddad shot competition and I have recently come into possession of his competition pistol. It will always be a treasured heirloom to my family. I was named after him and his oldest daughter Patricia and this recent gift from my aunt Ray has motivated me to research my granddad so if you knew him or worked with him any additional information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I will attempt to update this site as more information becomes available.

Rest in peace granddad, you are remembered.
