Agent Manuel Salcido was killed in an automobile accident while en route to the Del Rio Sector Headquarters, Texas, in a confiscated sedan. The vehicle went out of control on an ice-covered bridge and struck and oncoming vehicle.

Agent Salcido had been with the agency for one year and is survived by his wife.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 27th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know boht he pain and pride are forever.
