Officer Rosenberg succumbed to injuries received four days earlier when his patrol car struck a city bus which failed to yield right of way near 13th and M Streets, NW. He was responding to a shooting call at the time of the accident.
Officer Rosenberg was assigned to the 2nd Precinct and had been with the agency for 23 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.

You led a long and distinguished career serving our nation's capitol. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.
