Patrolman Henry Roese succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained three months earlier when his revolver fell to the ground and discharged as he stepped from a streetcar.

The accident occurred only one week after he was sworn in.

Patrolman Roese was survived by his mother and is buried Spring Grove Cemetery, Hamilton County, Ohio.

God bless your loving soul, Patrolman Roese. Rest in peace, your commitment to duty no matter how long won't be forgotten. My dad was a longtime New York City police officer for almost thirty-eight years spread out over five decades with the 102 precinct.
