Officer Calvin Rodwell was shot and killed by a armed suspect.

Officer Rodwell was working his part time job as a cab driver when his passenger suddenly produced a pistol, ordered him from the cab, and stole it. Minutes later Officer Rodwell stopped another cab for help. Unbeknownst to him the suspect, who was in the back seat, produced a pistol and shot him. The suspect was arrested and charged with murder.

Officer Rodwell had served with the Baltimore City Police Department for 13 years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 39th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
