Dearest cousin Pat,
It's been 31 years today - I remember our last conversation a week before your death at a family Christmas party. I had recently graduated from the police academy and you were so upset with me because I was at the party on a Saturday night! I tried to explain to you that I was in the FTO program and therefore had the night off. We laughed because as a rookie I had the weekend off - you gave me so much crap!

In less than a week later while working patrol I was notified of a shooting in which a DPD officer was transported to DGH. My life changed forever that day - my mentor my cousin was gone. No longer around to share my LE experiences with - so sad.

But, I think of you all the time - I am still in law enforcement (started my 32nd year) and have worked through the ranks - attended the FBINA in September 2013 - the US Flag flew over the US Capitol that year on your anniversary date December 12th.

I remember how proud you were of me when I graduated from the academy in Sept 1986 - I hope I've continued to make you proud. I've felt you with me on my journey through law enforcement - my very own Guardian Angel.

Love and miss you cuz.....
