My wife's uncle, Bill (WC) Miller, was a rookie Third Pct. Cop when PO Pickwick was killed. They both lived in Bellrose, and Bill described Bob as a good Cop, and a really good guy. The circumstances of his death were as follows: PO Pickwick was on patrol on Hillside Ave. in NHP. He came across a fellow Officer who had a motorist pulled over for a VTL violation. He got out of his RMP and walked up to back up the other Officer, who was sitting in his RMP. As he was standing at the drivers window, he was hit by a drunk driver, and went flying into the back of the vehicle of the original motorist that had been pulled over. He was killed instantly.
