Deputy Phillips was shot and killed by a escaped mental patient while standing in a doorway of a house in North Portland.

Deputy Phillips brother, Special Agent Buck Phillips, was later shot and killed in the line of duty on June 14, 1921, while serving with the Union Pacific Railroad Police Department.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
