John Allen Pegram

Deputy John Pegram was killed while he and another deputy were searching for bootleggers.

After locating several suspects a chase ensued in which Deputy Pegram was riding on one of the running boards. When they got close to the supsects' vehicle one of the suspects pushed him off of the running board, causing him to suffer a skull fracture.

Deputy Pegram was survived by his expectant wife.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 80th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
