Inspector Parker was shot and killed in the Huachucas Mountains in Arizona while following the trail of a pack train. Two of the men in the group opened fire on Inspector Parker, striking him in the back with a rifle shot.

Although mortally wounded, Inspector Parker was able to shoot and kill one of the suspects. He attempted to make it to a ranch to get assistance but succumbed to his wounds before he could do so.
