Harry J. Padian

Patrolman Harry Padian was shot and killed by a prisoner he was guarding at the Harlem Hospital.

The suspect, who was arrested after he jumped through the window of a liquor store, suddenly grabbed Officer Padian's revolver and shot him three times. Hospital workers subdued the suspect.

Officer Padian had served with the NYPD for 25 years and was assigned to the 32nd Precinct. His wife survived him.
