Officer O'Sullivan was shot and killed when he was ambushed by a suspect he had previously arrested. Officer O'Sullivan was sitting in his patrol car when the suspect approached him and began talking with him. After a short conversation the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot him in the chest. The suspect was convicted but has since been released from prison.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 3erd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Kelly, you are in my heart's embrace today.
