Officer O'Donnell succumbed to injuries sustained when he fell off of his horse at the intersection at the intersection of 27th Street and Avenue F. He had mounted the horse at 22nd Street but the horse immediately broke into a gallop. Another officer nearby followed in a vehicle until he located Officer O'Donnell on the ground. He transported Officer O'Donnell to Bayonne Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
