Your message: Dear Parole Board Members: I ask that you please DO NOT grant parole to Herman Bell, DIN 79C0262. This inmate's violent double murder of Patrolman Waverly Jones and Patrolman Joseph A. Piagentini in 1971 should preclude any consideration for parole. On Friday, May 21, 1971, Patrolmen Jones and Piagentini of the New York City Police Department's 32nd Precinct, were ambushed and murdered in cold blood. They were both shot from behind and killed with no chance to defend themselves. Violence against law enforcement officers is on the rise, and at least one officer this year has been murdered by a parolee. Inmates who take the life of an officer should be subject to serve their full sentence, without parole. In the case of inmate #79C0262, a life sentence for murder should mean just that. As a concerned citizen, and in the interest of public safety, I respectfully ask that you DENY PAROLE for inmate #79C0262. Justice demands that he be made to spend every remaining day of his life in prison. Sincerely,
