I respectfully ask that you DENY PAROLE to Ben Sanders Jr., DOC ID #00056262. This inmate is responsible for the murders of Police Officer Charles T. Smith and Police Officer Gerald Hempe.

On January 31st, 1973, inmate #00056262 assassinated two Milwaukee police officers without provocation. Officer Charles Smith and Officer Gerald Hempe were gunned down in cold blood by inmate #00056262. These two brave officers were conducting a traffic stop when inmate #00056262, who had nothing to do with the stop, walked up to them and fatally shot them both without any other interaction. He shot Police Officer Smith five times. His body was riddled with bullets in his head, neck, chest, thigh, and arm.

Police Officer Charles Smith was a United States Navy veteran and a dedicated member of the Milwaukee Police Department. He is survived by his wife.

Inmate #00056262 was sentenced to two life terms in prison and has already been denied parole in the past. It is imperative that he never be released. He poses a clear danger to all Wisconsin citizens and the United States.

As a concerned citizen, and in the interest of public safety, I again respectfully ask that you keep inmate #00056262 behind bars for the entirety of his two life sentences. Justice demands that he be made to spend every remaining day of his life in prison.
