"Called To Give My All"
I am a deputy in a canine crew.
I've been trained to see it through.
When danger's near my ears perk up,
they taught me that as a little pup.
I'm often there to protect your rights,
my presence sometimes hinders fights.
I never attack with thought to kill,
when subduing one, my job I fill.
I never worry a single thought,
as to how I'll fare at a certain spot.
The love I have for a handler's care,
is all I need, each day to fare.
And if some day my luck turns bad,
I'll relish all the joys I've had.
To be with men who stand for good,
in a special kind of brotherhood.
The story's end by now you know,
of how I tried for a better show.
I did my best,
though I did fall,
when I was called and gave my all.

K-9 Chris, What a powerful warrior for good! Incomprehensible what happened to you - one of God's specially chosen ones. We all want justice now, but God will avenge in His own way and in His perfect time. May He cover Officer Wilson, family and department with His love, strength, protection and hope.

As a family member of fellow officer, I pray that they find the coward who could shoot K9 Chris in his own space his home. To have someone do that is more than a coward they are pure evil. K9 Chris could not in any way escape or even hide and to me that is so sad. I hope that who ever murdered this four legged officer is brought to Justice with as much mercy as they or whoever did this had for this fallen officer. I pray for his handler and his best friend to be able to help his partner catch this murder and put who ever it is away for life and or give them the death sentence is what they deserve.

To Officer Wilson, his family and colleagues: I am SO HEARTBROKEN to hear about the murder of K9 Officer Chris. I can't wrap my head around why this happened. I pray that, if nothing else, the generous reward being offered will compel someone to come forward with information. I watched part of yesterday's memorial service, for K9 Chris. From the photos that I saw, it's clear that Officer Wilson and K9 Officer Chris had a very special bond. God has welcomed home a very handsome, four-legged HERO! Please know that I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. I know that justice will be served! God Bless you all!

K9 Chris:

Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Yancey County, North Carolina and to the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your selfless sacrifice in the Line-of-Duty. However, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! Now, my furry Comrade-in-Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here! May the Lord God bless you, your family, your friends, and your colleagues always.

"Well done, good and faithful servant!" [Matthew 25:21 ESV]

Almighty God, the Yancey County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Office was fortunate to receive the gift of K9 Chris from You. Now that he has left this life, please help them cope with his loss with strength and courage. We know that this beloved canine hero no longer suffers, and will live on in the fond memories of his loyal and dedicated law enforcement service for which he was trained. We pray that his accomplishments and unconditional love have enriched the lives of others and that he will forever be remembered by all those who loved and cared for him. After all, DOG spelled backwards is GOD! Amen.
