Thank you Barney for your service to the Law Enforcement agency where you served. I know they will miss you. Everyday I go home, I look for my faithful friend to run up to the fence and greet me and when he doesn't, I know he's on the back patio sleeping. I usually sneak up to the fence and yell, "what? you sleeping on the job again and he jumps up and comes running to lick my face and I laugh so hard till I cry because it's like he saying, "hey I wasn't sleeping just resting my eyes". He is my morning joy and and midnight protector, so I know what you meant to your handler and family. May God keep you in perfect peace. I am MyBrothesrKeepr.

A K9 is not a pet, and not just man's best friend. A K9 is a partner, a protector, and confidant; and is as much an Officer as any of us.

Pepper, you have done your duty. Rest easy now. We have the watch from here.

I am so sorry that your young life was taken so soon. A dog is truly man's best friend and faithful servant. Know that my heart broke for you when the news of your death went out over the media, and broke even harder today. Rest peacefully at God's feet, Pepper.

I know it doesn't count for much the loss of such a dog that helps law enforcement stop individuals who are on the run but at least the person will never do this again. I'm sorry he lost his life the man that is for I wish he would spend the rest of his days behind bars. But this dogs heroics will not be forgotten...nor the officer who lost his partner. He may be gone...but he will not be forgotten. Sleep well K-9 Pepper.

My deepest condolence to you, your family and your department. I have no doubt K9 Pepper served your department well. I too am a K9 handler and can not image your pain. I am not sure who is the Author of this dog prayer but I would like to share it with you.

A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly my beloved master for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness that the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep fall upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry. I can not tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in you arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest... and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
