IN MEMORY OF K9 JAGER

To the family, friends, and colleagues of K9 Jager:

From the beginning of time after Cain killed his brother, Abel, there has been a need for law enforcement officers to protect the weak and to bring evildoers to justice. This work is necessary in a sinful world and is dangerous. In 2014, some eight law enforcement canines have sacrificed their lives to protect their handlers and the citizens of this great nation. Today, we honor the sacrifice of K9 Jager, of the Petersburg, Virginia Police Department, who died from injuries he sustained in a fall while participating in a pursuit scenario training exercise on Monday, January 27, 2014 in Petersburg, Virginia.

Lord God, we are grateful for the life of K9 Jager. He died serving us. Help us never to forget. Help us celebrate the life of K9 Jager and honor his sacrifice. Be with the family, friends, and colleagues of this fallen hero. Comfort them and give them your strength. Guide those who seek to take care of the family of this hero. May those empowered to do so, care for them with integrity. In commemorating the death of this hero, help those who mourn to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition to the glorious life to come. Dogs do go to heaven! They should look forward to that life to come with joy and thanksgiving.

As for the citizens of Petersburg, Virginia, help them to faithfully equip their police officers and canines with the best tools to protect their community. May their training be adequate to the task. Help the citizens of Petersburg, Virginia, to remember to fund their canine programs adequately and treat their canine heroes with respect. Help the citizens of Petersburg, Virginia, to obey the law and treat each other with dignity so as not to add to the burden of crime and pain to their community.

The time for mourning will soon pass. We have now remembered and celebrated the life lost in this great tragedy. As the family, friends, and colleagues of K9 Jager go forward, they must celebrate the good things in their lives; and to celebrate life itself!

Finally, Lord God, we pray for the families, friends, and colleagues of all the law enforcement officers and canines who have been killed in the line-of-duty and we thank you for their sacrifices. Bless the lives of their families, friends, and colleagues so they might find healing. Help their law enforcement organizations support the families of these fallen heroes. Even though their deaths might have been senseless, make something good come out of these situations so that their law enforcement organizations and the communities in which they lived and served might be stronger because of their lives and their deaths.

Amen.

Lord God, hear our prayers.

Now, may the Lord bless you, and keep you: the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.

K9 Jager know you were loved and respected by your fellow officers. Run free, and if you see Tia or Rex or Tiger (our animals) please play with them. To his handler I am truly sorry for your loss, this has to be very difficult to you. To the department, I am truly sorry for the department's loss.

My heart breaks for your handler, family & co-workers. Unfortunately, training can be as dangerous as real life situations. Go run & play in the lush green meadows of heaven, Officer Jager. Thanks for your service!

in memory of K9 Rocco Pittsburgh PA PD EOW 1/30/14 LODD
About an hour ago we lost K-9 Rocco who fought valiantly for his life after receiving stab wounds and for his handler protection. He received much support from the community and k-9 handlers and donated blood from his k-9 friends.

Now you are where all the good dogs go and no more to hear the sound of a bullet or see another weapon again. Your life truly mattered and we share the grief of those who love you most. Your City will honor you, your chief will shine his shoes for you and speak well of you, all in the K-9 world will never forget you and will miss you. You did and gave the most any K-9 could do in saving the life of your handler. We give you our honor and remembrance and appreciate your service . You wore the badge of the Elite. Your residents slept better knowing you guarded their night. May you now Rest and Play in Peace. Run Fast ROCCO, Play Strong, Sniff the Wind, Outwit your Kongs and Get the Toy

Tribute to Law Enforcement K-9 Dogs for K9 Jager and K9 Rocco

THERE is no greater TRUST than the one created by the bond between K-9 law-enforcement working dogs and their Police, Deputy, or Trooper handler. There is no greater LOYALTY than these dogs who would lay down their lives for their partners and for you and me if called on to do so in the line of duty; there is no greater COMFORT and ASSURANCE in public trust and safety to know that is truth and can always be counted on. There is no greater cheetah-like SPEED, to OBEDIENCE than by these dogs who respond to their partner’s commands to words that need only be said once. There is no better way to HONOR these dogs than to acknowledge, appreciate, and respect them and their partners, both together in service for our safety, and to remember those partners lost together and forever to us and their families.
There is no greater nose to scent, eyes to sight, heart to give and no braver or more courageous spirit to work and serve. Of these K-9 Working Dogs also can be attributed the highest form of sacrifice by man “greater love hath no man than to give up his life for another". For them Heaven’s reward is a special section across the Rainbow Bridge reserved only for them where they play all day in meadows where angels sing; and never again hear the sound of another bullet or explosive. They are the very special select ones, elite and best of their breed; our Guardians of the Night and the Day, whose life as a hero dog on earth represents the highest in VALOR. May they and their partners always be blessed and watched over by our Creator who you will find always in their name only backwards.
THANK YOU FOR KEEPING US SAFE AND SECURE SO THAT WE MAY LIVE IN FREEDOM
