In an instant, this amazing K9 touched countless lives both near and far. Our tears, prayers and deepest sympathies are with Ape, his handler and all who knew and loved him. Ape will always hold a very special place in our hearts along with our eternal gratitude for his heroism and his ultimate sacrifice.

Ape was only 2 a puppy still! Tonight, he should be having his supper, wagging his tail and getting petted for a job well done. Instead his remains lie in a casket. The bright side to this story is that ape died a hero, making the ultimate sacrifice to protect his team and the residents of herkimer who were threatened by this madman. I live in Massachusetts but have family in herkimer. A family member was directly affected by this horrific event thanks to ape my family is now safe. Thank you ape may you rest in peace. My deepest and sincerest condolences to officer mueller. Who can ever question that the dog is truly man's best friend.

My prayers are with Ape and his partner, and everyone that had worked with Ape. It's such a sad and tragic thing to have lost a partner ( Ape). He was a beautiful, young dog, that is now with the lord, running and playing and watching from above, where nothing can harm him anymore.

Although you served this country for a short time, K9 Ape, you served courageously. Job well done, Ape. Now be off to Rainbow Bridge where other K9 Heroes and friends await your arrival. Run free through the streams and open fields that are there. Off you go Ape. Run free, Ape! Run free!

RIP Ape! Thank you for sacrificing your life for the safety of the officers. You are the true hero from the horrible tragedy. It's too bad you had to give your life at such a young age but you will be forever remembered for your love and courage you showed in your brief time on this earth. Enjoy your time over the rainbow bridge and know that your handler and friends/family will meet you someday and you will be together once again. You can rest peacefully knowing that the coward of a man that took your life has been sent to a horrible place and will never "rest" for the horrible things he did and the lives he ruined. I hope to meet you someday. Rest now Ape...Rest...
