To Maxo's handler: I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. May you find comfort that the God who created him loves him and will now take care of him, until you and Maxo meet again at Rainbow Bridge. The recent tragedy in my hometown has cost K9 Ape his life. My community fell in love with Ape. His sacrifice for us, and the respect, value, and love law enforcement has for its K9s, has touched our hearts profoundly. There is a renewed respect and gratitude for law enforcement and a great love for K9s. That you would risk your lives to protect us - not family, but strangers! "Thank you" seems so insufficient. Please know that to those who have seen even a small part of what you and Maxo and all K9s do for us, are eternally grateful. May God comfort you and give you peace and strength as you mourn the loss of your brave and beloved Maxo.

K9 Maxo Secret Service has a brother today LODD 3/14/13
Tactical K9 APE Shot with hostile gunfire - Two Years Old - His First Mission Assignment. He died an American Hero saving the lives of his teamates. Even tho' there is more to do that he could have done, there is nothing more that he could have done better. His life and service too brief - his Honor and Memory are Forever.

I had met Maxo several times at family gatherings and he was a wonderful partner and highly trained professional. We are all very sad for the loss of such a great family member and a valuable resource for the protection of our government officials. I know he loved being around the Secret Service team and especially his handler who is a family member. We will miss him greatly and know that he will not be forgotten.
