K9 Knight died after suffering heat exhaustion while in active pursuit of a suspect in Bastrop County. He was immediately transported to an animal hospital where he passed away.

He is survived by his handler, Deputy Randy Thurman.

ODMP is participating in the CrowdRise Giving Tower Holiday Challenge, an annual fundraising competition that runs from November 24th through January 7th and raises millions of dollars for charity.

Every charity keeps the money they raise and the organizations that raise the most receive prizes ranging from $25,000 to $100,000.
