We all know it can happen,
When we put our Colors on.
It only takes an instant,
Then one of us is gone.

Day to day we walk our beat,
In God we put our faith.
'Cause we're the law inside the wall,
We keep the Public safe.

You've done the job that few can do,
Your shift is at an end.
Farewell my Brother, Rest in peace,
On you we could depend.

Your heroism and service is honored today. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was shot twice when ambushed on April 23rd when he was on a foot pursuit of two bank robbers.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I hold your family in my heart's embrace.

Rest In Peace.

The commitment and sacrifice that this officer gave is a reflection of the courage and dignity this officer gave to his coworkers, but also to the citizens of the Province of Alberta. May you rest in peace & forever be remembered.

Wow, this is an amazing site.
I find it so funny to hear people call him "Big Joe". To me, he will always be my little baby cousin, Jo-Jo... so cute and so kind. His smile lit up the world, and lit up the lives of his family.
My entire family is so proud of him, and so thankful for the kind words on this site. What a tribute to Joey!
And trust me when I say, he deserves to be remembered with such honor... he was truly one of a kind.
I miss you, Joey. ~xo~

Wow what an amazing site.On July 22 2008, my friend and co-worker Big Joe was called home to watch the gates of Heaven. To have served with you my friend was an honour. To have known you as my friend was a gift from God himself. You made the ultimate sacrifice Joe. We will be honouring you everyday and in everyway we can. We are all family and it feels like I lost a brother. I know you will be watching over us my friend. Thank you for all of the great memories Joe. We will continue this rodeo we call life. We have pulled ourselves up, dusted off our pants and climb back into that gate. To have known you and worked along side with you has given us the strength to ride forever.
God speed my friend, I love you my Brother.
We all miss you "HEMI 1462" RIP

Rest in peace Ofc. McKeown. Few of us know the beat that we walk working those who are locked up for crimes. Even fewer know the toll it takes on us on and off duty. Know that your brothers and sisters past walk the beat with you now. They will guide you and protect you on your journey into gods arms. Rest assured we will continue to walk this beat for you here. Thanks for your dedication and service to the people of Canada, and all of humanity.

It breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live without the man they loved. I have no doubt that Joseph was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. Remember that Joseph's life was about so much more than the way he died. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate his life and the MAN that he was. Joseph will continue to live on in our memories and in the hearts of those who continue to remember him.

As a fellow Canadian and a "survivor" please accept my condolences. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Correctional Officer McKeown. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Correctional Officer McKeown, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been five and a half years since he's been gone but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)
