Chilliwack, in March 2005... just before your passing, on course together, as a team, and remembering your laugh, and sense of humour. Still so hard to believe. I pray for your kids, and will pipe a lament for you today, in memory. Keep watch over us buddy! Sgt. Brad Hampson Ottawa Police 2007-10-09

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Constable Minguy er for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.
For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time That I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute to stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, Well I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything just right.
There will always be another day to say "I love you," And certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything I can do?"
But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear, Tell them how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay." And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.

To the family of Constable Jean Minguy, my thoughts and prayers go to you in this tragic time. I was at the Memorial in Burnaby B.C. on Sunday Sept. 25th remembering and honouring the fallen officers and I was reminded of your loss. My husband drowned this last March while working for the Seattle Police Harbour Patrol. The officers from Canada and the U.S. have been amazing and I hope they provide you with a lot of support, as they have done for me, my son and my family. If you need anything I will be a phone call away.
My heart breaks for you -please take care, Jeannie Lone, wife of Officer Jackson Lone EOW 03/16/05 Jeannie Lone

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE *** Chief ( retired ) Douglas A. Koeppen Washington New Jersey USA 2005-07-20

I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME
I never dreamed it would be me, My name for all eternity, Recorded here at this hallowed place, Alas, my name, no more my face.
"In the line of duty," I hear them say: My family now the price to pay. My folded flag stained with tears; We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest, I sleep now in eternal rest. My sword I pass to those behind, And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me, And with heavy heart and bended knee, I ask for all here from the past: Dear God, let my name be the last.

You are still in our hearts, gone but not forgotten. Lt. Jean-Paul Leclerc Swiss Army, MP Service 2005-06-10
My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003 in the USA. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Jean did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Jean be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Constable Minguy's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through these tough times, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (Dennis' department will also always know how to reach me.)
As a fallen officer "survivour" and a fellow Canadian please accept my condolences. I never got the opportunity to know Jean but, I am certain Jean was well respected and well loved by everyone who's life he touched. You were lucky to have had him be a part of your lives. I am certain that Jean will continue to watch over us all as only he can.
Thank you Constable Minguy for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
