Constable Melanie Roy was killed in an automobile accident while responding to an emergency call. Her vehicle went out of control and struck a bridge support. Another officer traveling in front of her noticed that she was no longer following and observed a large cloud of dust. He immediately turned around and located the crash.

She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Constable Roy had served with the agency for only three months.
