Officer Bingley was stationed at Hagersville. While on patrol near Caledonia, Officer Bingley lost control of his motorcycle when the sidecar failed to right itself after coming out of a curve.

Officer Bingley was thrown from the motorcycle and struck his head on the pavement. He died of a fractured skull.
